The question is posed that researcher who is publishing his research desires that his knowledge & contribution should be know to we readers .For publishing the article in the magazine it is a very unhealthy practice that magazine demands money from the writer.

The writer should not encourage it we must have a faith in our working & sooner or later good work is bound to speak & in such cases a writer should not go for his name by publishing his article with the payment in the magazine .

This is my personal opinion

Many players are involved in research publishing. Cost is a major factor, which you should take into consideration while selecting journals. Some journals, especially by private publishers, demand page charges. Still, another group of journals demands only subscription from you.

In India, Government agencies such as the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the Indian Academy of Sciences, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research(ICAR), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and Universities publish research journals utilizing government grants. They may not demand page charges but you have to take subscription for a minimum of one year.

Most professional societies publish articles from their members only, which means the prospective author has to become a member (annual or life member) by paying a fee. Examples include Agronomy Journal (American Society of Agronomy) and Crop Science (Crop Science Society of America).

Another group is Associations, for examples, Science (American Association for the Advancement of Science) and BMJ (British Medical Association).

Many private publishers are also active in the scene. Nature (Springer Nature); The Lancet (Elsevier); and Plant and Soil (Springer) are some examples. Most of them demand page charges.

For paying the charges, most often, authors can utilize their research grant or employer’s fund specially set apart for the purpose. In the case of exceptionally good research papers from poor counties, many international journals waive all or a part of the fee. You have to weigh all these options. If your institution or funding agency bears the cost of publication, you need not worry much about the cost factor; all you have to worry is other factors such as promptness and journal rating.

Actually we need not pay to publish our intellectual work in reputed journals.Reality is that many researchers fail to achieve high standard output.Therefore,to meet their own academic need,they choose some journals for publications in lieu of charges.

Mohammed Bawatna: You assume every researcher belongs to a particular institution or organization? How about independent researchers who want to contribute to knowledge production and democratization of the same? There is no better question about this whole thing. I understand fully about the cost burden research journals and publishers alike inc-cure in the process of getting researches published, but we need to be honest about this whole thing. Thanks for your valuable contribution nonetheless.
