Generalizing researches in this area as low standard in India is NOT correct. There are very rich, global sound breaking studies in crop and soil sciences in India.

On the tangent that the young researchers have to do more and thus need the support of funding agencies as well as technical support, I agree with you.

I don't deny the fact that quality research is somewhere lagging in our country. It is primarily because of us (research fellows and research guides). Except few institutions, we all believe in publications i.e. SCI/SSCI/ABDC/ABS etc but we miss out core research element because we are in hurry to catch the career bus. The same is told by our masters too that you are here for PhD not for the Noble, do it and go. Research problems are around us but who will "bell the cat". There are other issues too. Research need investment, for which we are truly not ready for. Hope will do better.

Because many researchers are more intent towards quantity of publications not quality. This happens due to the massive amount of fake journals and conferences which aim to earn money and least care about what they are publishing.
