I have learned a great lesson from observing plants and mountains and how they support each other. People often engage in conflict, warfare, and violence over the available resources, which they will eventually leave behind. Mountains support the growth of plants by providing soil and stability, while plants help prevent erosion and maintain the integrity of the mountains. However, human beings often conflict over things they did not produce themselves. While mountains are covered by plants, people rely on the objects that nature has given and created. If people are wise, they can learn from plants and mountains. They can understand that fertilizer alone cannot always be the sole source of plant growth. I have included a photograph I captured in one of the Ethiopian mountains, where farmers were distressed because they had no fertilizer. Eventually, they realized that their seeds alone, without fertilizer, were enough for their crops to grow remarkably. It is truly amazing to witness the work of God.
