In the most common learning disabilities, among others, are autism and ADHD. Autistic students, rightfully so, possess their own program named and made for them, yet people with ADHD, perhaps a higher population than autistics, lack their own specifically made program. How should this situation be mended? ADHD is a massive problem.
People with ADHD can have various difficulties, including Specific Learning Disabilities in Reading Comprehension, Written Expression, or Math. They can also be diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In many Educational settings, ADHD will fall under the category of Other Health Impaired with many other diagnoses. The support can be provided based on the area of need rather than providing their specialized category. There would be no need unless this became a separate funding stream or targeted study area.
Quite honestly, those of us in the field believe both ADHD and Autism Spectrum are both Spectrum Disorders with overlapping symptomatology. That could be an area of study.

I would love to collaborate on some research with you regarding the spectrum of ADHD and the similarities of Autism. Due to the immensity of the topic, I was advised to leave Autism out of the current research topic.
I am in the phase of defending my prospectus before going to IRB. If I can add anything in Chapters four and five to cite your work, I will certainly do so.

There could be several reasons why students with ADHD do not have their own specialized and specifically named program. Here are a few explanations:
Lack of recognition: ADHD is a relatively common condition, affecting around 5-10% of children worldwide. lack of understanding and recognition may have contributed to the absence.
2. Heterogeneity of ADHD symptoms: ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. The manifestation and severity of these symptoms can vary significantly among individuals with ADHD. As a result, it is challenging to develop a one-size-fits-all program for diverse needs of students with ADHD.
3. Inclusive educational approach: Educational institutions have shifted towards an inclusive educational approach, focusing on accommodating diverse learning needs within regular classrooms. This approach aiming to provide support to all students, including those with conditions like ADHD, within the mainstream educational setting. While this approach promotes inclusivity, it may not involve a specialized program catered particularly to students with ADHD.
Another possible area of study is of the strategies used by those who were/are diagnosed with ADHD long after completion of an advanced degree such as a Masters or PhD, especially before all of the assistive technologies & devices became as commonplace as they are now. It’s likely to be a fertile question.
