To achieve breakthroughs and innovations in applied, practical problems often requires inputs from individuals who are well-qualified in fields outside of the technical domain of the subject problem. Such individuals can see problems and solutions in “naïve”, unconventional ways that are not apparent to specialists in the problem domain.  The opinions/suggestions of courageous university professors and graduate students concerning the solutions of pressing global problems are desperately needed, whether or not the problem area is in within their field of specialty.
