Metal atoms also absorb radiation!

As we know, metals are very good reflectors to incident electromagnetic radiation because of their huge conductivity. For this reason, they have very small skin depth, beyond which no EM wave can penetrate. It simply implies that upto the skin depth, EM wave can enter into the metal. Now, if the size of the sample is less than that penetration depth or rather skin depth, then the whole body of individual NW can absorb EM energy.
