Methane is a greenhouse gas that leaves CO2 after burning. Yet, there is a lot of research on methane (CH4) production. Why so?
Moreover, the methane production process has been practiced for a long time, what are the recent advancements (if it is successful then why cant we see them commonly being used)?.
Methane burns quite cleanly and can prevent for home family and farm needs for energy.
While methane has 84 times the greenhouse gas forcing than carbon dioxide the use of biomethane reduces issues with animal waste disposal and produces value amendment and also energy for household needs.
The use of wood for cooking is quite a health issue the use of decomposed manure to produce methane gas eliminates most of the wood issues and deforestation is making the labor for work seek a more and more difficult proposal.
The anaerobically digested manure beside giving methane is excellent of making a useful composted product which improves the plant production source and improves soil quality.
The ability of trapping carbon as increased soil organic matter not only increases the production capacity and improves the environment but also counteracts the over enriched atmospheric greenhouse gases from fossil fuels which lead to increases in carbon dioxide, methane and nitroous oxides.
Biomethane
Just like natural gas, biomethane releases some carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. But these would be released anyway if the organic matter that is used for biomethane production would simply be left to decompose.
