I have multiple camera images showing a leopard (Panthera pardus) exhibiting no fear for the flashlight. Although it didn't approach to explore the machine (unlike the barking deer which came in close and sometimes lick at the lens), the leopard spent the most of the time in front of the camera. Will this behavior of the big cat affect analyzing camera imaging data in terms of detectability?

Camera Traps Can Be Heard and Seen by Animals

It is very significant behavior and that is observed in many big cats. We are using camera traps for Snow leopard and many times i have observed this cat staying before the camera for long time. As per my personal observation, we install camera at large cliff base which might be there sign post and tracks and trails. So they keep on observing and curious about it. We have even observed Snow leopard rubbing its cheek against the camera trap or making scrapes or scent marking. Hope this might be helpful.

We also have tigers in the study site, just see how different this cat could be in terms of curiosity compared with leopard. Both of them made scent markings on the tree trunks.
