The acidophilic neurons are neurons expressing more acidophilic cytoplasm than average. They are related to damaged neurons under various pathological conditions, and neuropathologists carefully seek for or stain them in histological preparations. In my experience, numerous acidophilic neurons also can be obtained by manipulating perfusion fixation of the healthy animals (I used the rat forebrain, and paid attention mainly to the cortex and hippocampus). So, what pathology did I cause?
