Which surface roughness instrument would you suggest for measuring surface roughness of a circular hole of ceramic material? this is related to surface roughness measurement inside in circular hole.

If there is a possibility to cut the sample in half (longitudinally) you could use atomic force microscopy (AFM) to determine the surface roughness of your sample.

Maybe it would be nice to use surface roughness measuring machine with stylus for small holes (like Mitutoyo 12AAC734)?
What is the diameter and depth of the hole and expected Ra/Rz?
Dear singh, you would have to cut your sample as the deon said, and then you can measure roughness by using AFM either in contact mode or tapping mode. you can also measure roughness by using optical based zeta profilometer ( 3-D optical profiler) but in that case also, you would have to cut the sample.

My sample hole diameter is 1.2 mm and depth is 5 mm, and material is ceramic.
I want to know that without cut the sample, can we measure the roughness.
