I want to assess the factors that are associated with mental illness of the University students. I read some articles where the researchers have used logistic regression. Will it be appropriate in my study?
-how did you ask the question? open ended or closed? was it a list of factors they chose from? or for each question, you asked how much it was true to them? was it a yes/no question? etc That will influence what analysis you use.
It is a descriptive quantitative survey study. The dependend variable have been classified into yes/no. Age, Gender, Year of study, Faculty, Ethnicity and some social factors (yes/no) have been used for the study.
There are a variety of issues to be considered to decide which method is appropriate. First is research questions: you look for the relation or the difference between variables, second is what type of your independent and dependent variables, third is how many variables you want to analyze. If you have time, reading "SPSS survival manual" can help
