SciLab is a Matlab clone, nothing more. If you follow the link above you definitely find the details. If you are fit in m-files-Programming (MatLab), you are able to use SciLab as well. MatLab by the way is extremely costly, and therefore, if your college is not equipped with MatLab licences, SciLab is the alternative way.
nothing to compare for face recognition, it depends on the code that you have. If you have an efficient code for Matlab or sciLab it will be fine, if the code is not good, it doesn't matter if you use matlab or scilab
you are right but i am new to sci lab, when i asked reg sci lab many of them don't know what sci lab is ? and some say its difficult, complex, constrains and tools are costly. ...thats why i asked which one is best ...where i can get the coding knowledge for sci lab
a) SciLab is of course not difficult, etc. You have to work with the tool; you have to learn how to use it; you have to learn how to program (m-files); etc.
b) A philosophical aspect: You write" .. coding knowledge ...". Knowledge is gained intrinsically (cf. a). You might get information to learn from the Internet, books, etc., but to gain knowledge YOU have to work on it.
c) YOU are "the master of the game" and last, but not least.....
Strictly speaking Scilab is not a clone of Matlab, the recent developments have made the Scilab GUI lookalike to Matlab GUI. But this is intuitive, users can then switch over to Scilab easily... Cheers.
