I am I studied finance in my masters and worked in financial institutions. I have worked in automation of risk and compliance. Currently planning to have a PhD connected to Artificial Intelligence. Based on reading some articles online, I have come up with a list of PhD topics.
Could you please help me find which one is best form this list? Or any other new idea is also welcome. Thank you
Nazmul Hasan , I worked in Credicorp, a multinational financial corporation, and I can tell for sure that the ROI of implementing some types of AI is low to null, specially in relation to those horrible bots (and specially chat bots) that financial institutions are so eager to implement (as it is so easy to build them)... so I would say #2 is neccesary to open the eyes of managers who are mesmerized by the "hype" of AI

My recommendation is to start with the theory first. The topics seem to be all sound, but... What is the bigger picture? What literature stream are you contributing to? As a PhD student, we expect you to develop an existing or even a new theory. In which domain or with which technology is less important.
So, what is the big theory behind each of these topics?

This is something I neither thought about nor tried to research. I do not have any research background.
May I ask if you to suggest any relevant theories for, Topic 1 and 2 ?
The best way is to start a comprehensive Literature Review with understanding what have been done and what is need to be done with WHY + which benefits, then to know a bit how you will do it within certain time frame.

I consider that you should first investigate any problem in your city, your country or the world, and based on this, look for papers related to the topic and that use artificial intelligence. Then you can implement an AI algorithm that has not been applied to that problem. For example, you could apply natural language processing in the chosen problem.
It is important that the problem you choose is of interest to you, as this will help to keep you motivated.

there are many theories which you can use. Here are just some I used in my research:
1. The Construal Level Theory of Psychological Distance. This theory suggests that our perception of the same event, object, to technology may differ. We can perceive something as psychologically proximal (which will lead to concrete thinking about this object/event) or distal (which will lead to abstract information processing). This has an impact on our willingness to use technology, understanding, application, etc. What if people perceive AI distal/proximal and, for this reason, sue it differently or avoid using it? )2. From the field of strategic management, you can take the Resource-based view- This theory suggests that only resources that are valuable, rare, inimitable, non-substitutable (VRIN-criteria) can produce a competitive advantage. Is AI such a resource? Or can it make other firms' resources to VRIN-ones?
3. Heuristics: we don't have a possibility to consciously process all available information. For this reason, we develop "shortcuts" or "rules of thumb" that help us speed up and simplify the information processing. The same logic may be applicable to firms (and not only individuals). What if AI helps speed up information processing? Will heuristics disappear or will they become even stronger (and maybe rigid)?
I would rather disagree with Rolando Gonzales Martinez . Indeed, you can start with the data instead of starting with the theory. And yes, many new theories come from the explorative approach. Yet, this is a more complex and very discussed approach. Moreover, your suggested topics seem to have a specific goal (i.e. no exploration). If I were you, I would start my dissertation with a theory in mind.
