If 2.7 billion people depend upon rice for staple food then huge majority (5.1 billion) people are on other side, what they use as staple food.

Since the majority of the population live in Asia, and their staple food is rice, Rice seems the dominant crop than wheat. Nowadays rice seems to be cultivated in many parts of the world and its production and consumption is increasing in Africa and other parts of the world.

Asad Ali Khan Rice is staple food and most consuming crop in the world. Largest producer and consumers are living in Asian continent than wheat.
Highest rice production have been taken by China followed by India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand.
