.I completely agree with Hadid, who unfortunately died before she received the full acclaim she was due. But my architectural preferences are eclectic and go from 17th and 18th century architecture to Islamic architecture, which at its best is extremely beautiful, and that of much earlier centuries. A work that consumes space putting in varied statements of power, knowledge and beauty/always good!
I love the Roman house, not just villa, which should become fashionable again. Although this is off-subject, I visited the Museum of London last year, inside of which is the reconstructed interior of a Roman house-the furniture could have been easily transported into the modern world. All the rooms on display needed were a computer and TV. The idea anyway of an enclosed courtyard is luxury compared to British front and back public-type gardens.
On the subject of houses, the ones in Portugal are immensely beautiful. Each is different from its neighbour and dressed up with pastel colours. The ones in England tend to be little more than boxes. Dreadful! Although England has great architecture its domestic buildings are truly uninspired.
I am obsessed with modern designs, a bit away from the traditional design and I follow a lot of interior design programs. The façades- by french language- attract me always in white, especially the designs of Zaha Hadid. I find it very elegant and attractive to reflect and pleasant to look at
Islamic architecture on which most of the mosques are built. For me, there are so much beautiful mosques around the world that their beauty is incomparable.
