I want to do a mapping study of disease prevalence using medical records of patients from hospitals and local clinics. What is the correct method for conducting this study?
In the case of hospitals and clinics, those are basically located based on the population. I guess you need to map them with some data to visualize information?
Medical records are usually quite sensitive information, and will not be easy to obtain. The best way to approach it from a data-collection point of view is to contact government health organisations and similar whom might be able to grant you access to this type of data.
well when it comes to methods i always look up similar studies and get a look into the methods they used.
Also, getting any sensitive Info of this kind always requires some bureaucracy - ask for the official allowance at the facility or even better - the local Ärztekammer ;) - maybe reusing allready obtained and anonymized data is easier?
Hey, when you said mapping there is one image came into my mind which is a geographical map that needs Geo points. That can be possible with the help of ODK (Open Data Kit).
Why I am saying about ODK because ODk is open-source and relative at low cost.
