I am currently working on the problem of saline water intrusion into fresh water bearing zones in coastal aquifers. I have already acquired some geoelectrical and geochemical data from wells within the study area. However, I am trying to establish a correlation(mathematically) between the two set of data. Is their any deducible mathematical relationship between the two?
The data you acquire are sufficient. Go ahead to analyze the data. From the geoelectrical data you could get the conductivity which could give you the idea about intrusion between fresh water and saltwater. Total dissolved solute measured is proportional to conductivity and this could also give you some clues about intrusion.
The Pedotransfer Function (PTC) could be possible through regression analysis of the two set of data you have acquired already. From the regression analysis correlation could be established.
If possible you can collect the data of water level. Mostly Total dissolved solids will be 0.75 times of Electrical conductivity. So normal regression analysis is possible. Saltwater intrusion can be easily identified by knowing the permissible limit.
