The HyS cycle it's being know for it's potencial use in hydrogen production, but it presents an inconvenience, that being, the high thermal energy needed in the decomposition of the SO3 to SO2. Thus, a catalyst is needed to reduce thermal energy requirments of the process.

Among studies, several catalyst have been tested, like Fe2O3, CuO, CuV2O6... whose efficiencies vary depending on the range of temperature and pressure established.
