Which software for viewing DICOM files do you recommend?

If you’re just after a free viewer, I would suggest sante or for Mac Osiris
My personal favorite is Mango (http://ric.uthscsa.edu/mango/mango.html), but which viewer is best depends on what features are important to you.
OsiriX for Mac OS is no longer really free, but there is a FOSS version called Horos (www.horosproject.org) that is maintained that started from the last open source version of OsiriX. If you need more granular access to the data, the (non-free) MATLAB Image Processing Toolbox provides reasonably good support for DICOM data.
I am the author of HorliX, an open-source dicom viewer based on Horos/OsiriX.
HorliX, Horos and OsiriX have their own strength point respectively although I believe that HorliX is best.
