Almost everything is in the title : which content management system would you use to create an online community for a specific profession? It may be a closed community, ie, anonymous users won't be able to see anything besides the home page with general info. Users have to connect in order to share, discuss, publish content. Of course, they can use groups, chat and messages, with exchange of different media files.
I was testing Drupal, and now I'm testing Wordpress. The learning curves are very different. The different versions in Drupal are too many to easily manage the process and to get things working rapidly. Most of all I'm concerned with security and scalability.
So what do you think?
Any representative examples you know about?

Both of Drupal and WordPress are good software. If you are considering making your website consist of blogs, WordPress is better than Drupal. Otherwise, I recommend to use Drupal.
Because Drupal and WordPress are top-rated software, you have many security issues reported on that software. However, it would be no problem to use the latest version whose all issues have been fixed. Scalability is no problems as well.
