Cuticular hydrocarbons are important characteristic features in insects that can be detected by GC-MS. I would be very grateful if any researcher/ scientist could explain the relationship between repellency and levels of hydrocarbons in mosquitoes or other insect species. If mosquitoes are exposed to repellents such as DEET, essential oils, etc., whether there will be any changes in the levels of cuticular hydrocarbons ?
