I just finished an extremely long literature review report (~70k words excluding references) about an indoor air quality topic. I will try to chop it down but the final version will still likely be very long. Which journal(s) do you recommend? Open-access ones are fine with me.
Dear Xufei, thank you for posting this very interesting technical question. For example, check the journal "Chemosphere" which is published by Elsevier. They have just published the following review article:

Yet another suitable journal is "Sustainable Enviironment Research" which is published by Springer. This journal recently published the following review article:

This paper is freely accessible as public full text on RG. In any case I suggest to first contact the editors of the respective journals and ask if they are interested in publishing such an article.

Dear Xufei Yang thanks for your kind response and explanation. Sorry to hear that the suggested journals do not accept this type of articles. If you already know that the manuscript is too long, there is perhaps no way around to significantly shorten the manuscript. I suggest that you carefully check if there are recent review articles about the same or very similar topics. By citing these review articles you can perhaps skip a significant number of references to original research papers and omit some paragraphs of the manuscript. With best wishes, Frank Edelmann
My understanding is that you have a 70,000 word review PLUS references, which I imagine are voluminous. This is indeed very long, roughly 10x the length of the typical paper in my area. The journals I know, will simply not be able to allocate enough space for this. Could you produce this as a full-length book or technical report (in its entirety) and then carve out a few significant sections for a shorter more concise treatment. This might help you reach your audience.
