I'm doing a retrospective study and want to perform TBSS. The scanner used was a Philips Achieve (between 2011 and 2015). The original DICOMs were tranformed to Nifti format using dcm2niix.
Now I need some information about the phase encoding direction from the DTI scans in order to preprocess the data (run eddy). The .json files only mention 'PhaseEncodingAxis = j', indicating phase encoding took place on the AP axis. However, it does not indicate the phase encoding direction (A>P or A
If the .json file indicates "J" that means it is (A>P) anterior to posterior. You can confirm it by taking an image conforms RAS (Right-Anterior-Superior) convention in ITK snap. If in case it's opposite it should have indicated "J-". If in case you are using MRtrix3 use command mrinfo.

When opening viewing the images, I can see that the Nifti images are in RAS instead of LPS as in the original DICOMs. Does this confirm that PE direction is A->P?
mrinfo from MRtrix3 does not give information about PE direction, only about dimensions, voxel size, data strides, format, data type, intensity scaling, transform and comments...
