Some people say the first University in the world was established in Europe while some believe it was established in Africa. Others argue that it was established in India. Please, I need clarification on this matter with fact. Thanks!
The first university according to the Guinness Book of World Records is the University of Al-Karaouine, founded in 859 AD and located in Morocco. It was stated as the "oldest existing, and continually operating educational institution in the world".
Takshashila University is the most famous and the world’s first university. Takshashila University was established 2700 years ago in Taxila. Takshasila is also known as Taxila or Takshila. Between 600BC and 500AD, Taxila was in the kingdom of Gandhar, in Ancient India before partition, but now Takshashila is in Rawalpindi district of the Punjab Pakistan after partition. The ancient Takshasila were declared a UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural organization) world Heritage site.
If you believe that it is possible to judge the time frame of ancient Universities, sculpture, etc. so precisely that everyone could accept it without any argument, then it may be.
Anup Kumar Singh I'm not disputing that fact. But just wondering why there are contending views and opinions. Do we say the Guinness World of Records is not realistic?
I was simply pointing out that anyone can make a mistake, weather it is us or Guinness world of records. They may be correct also, but without any clear proof, it is hard to make favor to any side. And possibly, it may be one of the reason why people have different opinion to the same fact.
I am not sure what is the discussion about especially as 2000 or more years into the past a University surely was something different as it is today. If we accept this then there is the possibility that we have more than one University we can call the oldest of the world, Guinness Book can be right at the same time that other records can be right.
