I am interested on legal and ethical aspects of human assisted reproduction in different cultures. Your opinion about the most questionable aspects is also welcome!
Brazilian ethical directions can be accessed in the URL: http://www.portalmedico.org.br/resolucoes/CFM/2013/2013_2013.pdf. We do not have law on the issue. In my opinion, one of the most questionable aspects of the resolution 2013/2013 of the Brazilian Federal Board of Medicine is the restriction of the use of assisted reproduction techniques to women with maximum age of 50 years. This limitation is based on the supposed benefit of the child to be raised by younger parents and I agree with it. We can further discuss this and other eventual limits. Waiting for answers!
In Czech Republic the regulation is made by the law ([Law of the specific medical services, No 373/2011, par. 3 to 11] in Czech). The assisted reproduction is allowed for pairs of man and woman, married or declaring sexual partnership, up to 50 years old women. The preimplantation diagnosis/screening is allowed if the medical indication exists, not for the social sex selection. Anonymous donation of sperm and oocytes is allowed. Further regulation is given by the Society of Assisted Reproduction, the Society advices embryo transfer of 1, in case of repeated embryo transfer failures or advanced woman age maximally 2 embryos.
There is Federal legislation, State specific legislation, Fertility Society of Australia's guidelines which essentially are a form of legislation in as much as if they are not followed then a clinic cannot receive Federal Funding from Medicare which is substantial. In addition there are National Health and Medical Research Guidelines again essentially law.
