Question: Can anyone please provide recommendations for how / where I can recruit healthy participants (roughly between the ages of 18 - 25) for an online survey-based study?
Context: I am designing a study comparing certain variables in a specific patient population vs healthy age-and-sex-matched controls. I have access to the clinical population, but am unsure where I can recruit healthy controls (my university's psychology student participant pool is not available to me). Data collection will be via a very brief online survey. Ideally any recommended platform would enable me to choose participants based on age-sex combination. My team is open to paying participants.
If filling an online survey is all that you need from participants maybe you can try social networking sites, have you tried them?
Unfortunately, convenience sampling would not be adequate. We need about 40 to 50 people, and they need to be age and sex matched to our clinical population.
Morgan Glass, my initial thought was social networking sites as well. Given your response to Sanaa N Al- Haj Ali, I am wondering if you could simply incorporate specific inclusionary criteria that would more accurately mirror your clinical population? Alternatively, if your clinical population was identified through the university (or somewhere else), I am wondering if it is possible for you to do additional recruiting within a different channel of that same location? Overall, I think it would be helpful to know more about the clinical population before anyone would likely be able to provide you with beneficial suggestions on how and where you might find a healthy comparison group.
