Your question is rather wide, and it does not indicate why you want to find such studies. This - in turn - makes it difficult to provide good suggestions, but I will give it a try. I would suggest that you read Rothwell (1994) for a good overview of different generations of "innovation management models". In the article he gives an historical overview over how firms generally have worked with innovation.
A second suggestion is to read Marinova and Phillimore (2003), which gives a similar overview, in which they present a historical examination of models used to explain firm innovation.
A third suggestion is to read Orrt and van der Duin (2008) in which they add a contextual perspective on which models that applies to what context. Their basic proposition is that firms need tailor their innovation approach to the type of innovation, organization(s), industry and country/culture.
