Can anyone indicate me where to get satellite derived precipitation timeseries data for 150 to present with a good spatial resolution and a scientifically recognized source?
The Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC) provides global precipitation analyses (over land) based on in-situ observations. It provides unrestricted access to its monthly gridded precipitation data sets. Several products are available. You can find an overview here :
GPCC is very good if you need data for 1950–present. However, if you only need data after 1979 the MSWEP dataset would be best (available from www.gloh2o.org).
