When will we have autonomous vehicles in use at Level 4: High Driving Automation or Level 5: Full Driving Automation?
What are the main problems? What are the road conditions? How will they adjust to different weather conditions? How will they share information with the road or with other vehicles? What technologies, algorithms, and processing detect and prevent the occurrence of accidents?

In terms of vehicles in production, I think we are still at level 2 (Partial Driving Automation).
However, prototypes and vehicle models are being tested at level 3 (Conditional Driving Automation), with environmental detection features, in order to be able to make informed decisions, although they still need a human replacement. The driver remains alert and ready to take control.
Research and testing work is carried out at tier 4 (high driving automation), the main difference with tier 3 is that tier 4 vehicles can intervene if something goes wrong or fails. These vehicles do not require human interaction in most activities. But, human still has the option of replacing it manually.
Level 5 vehicles (Total Driving Automation) do not require human attention, and may not have steering wheels or accelerator and brake pedals. There are still embryonic tests of fully autonomous cars in very controlled environments.
In AI, we are a far cry from “AIG” or “strong AI” that experiences sensitization or conscience, and that resolves ethical issues.

Level 5, where autonomous vehicles take full control of all driving and navigation tasks, implies adapting the vehicle to all weather and road conditions. It still seems very far away and with a high degree of uncertainty this process of adapting vehicles, communication between them, and also roads.
