I think Vitruvius mentions that two thousand years ago in his seminal work what is now known as The Ten Books of Architecture, he described architecture with three main principles (firmness, utility, beauty) so that when architecture loses one of these principles, it means that it loses one of the main pillars of its existence.
Vitruvius had more principles "ARCHITECTURE depends on Order (in Greek τάξις), Arrangement (in Greek διεαθέσις), Eurythmy, Symmetry, Propriety, and Economy (in Greek οικονομία )" (Book 1,2,1) However, this does not mean that someone today has it one - for example"Creativity" оr "Form follows function" or " "tradition is better than modernity", etc. People need quality buildings, not billboards.

Architecture will never lose its component. We simply neglect the needs of the user. Aesthetic/ Strength/ Function. Too many shortcuts and yes the fallacy of leading the 'everest' trail for posterity and fame...for some material gain. Architecture will remain as it is, even when humans no longer inhabit our mother earth. Future generation will just validate or not what we had build, whether it's a 'kitsch', a naturalist or one who sees a 'dream' structure and built it. But components remains the same, missing a piece or two. just my one cent.
The beauty of architecture is in its capacity for change, for mutation, for flexibility. History has taught us that when architecture becomes standardized, it collapses.
