I'm trying to produce laccase using Trametes versicolor and according to the literature i'm not sure if I should use ABTS (2,2′-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid)) or syringaldazine.
Hello, Syringaldazine and ABTS have different chemical structures but both can be used for checking Laccase activity, they both acting by different mechanisms.
In biochemistry, 2 ABTS is a non-specific peroxidase substrate used to observe the reaction kinetics of enzymes like laccases. Syringaldazine, on the other hand, is a non-auto-oxidizable laccase-specific compound. So the difference is really in their specificities, apart from the chemistry of the compounds.
