If it happened quickly, then results would be catastrophic, turning the whole planet into blended slurry of mountains, oceans and trees, hurtling past at hundreds of kilometers per hour. And if it happened slowly, it would still be unpleasant, as we stopped having a proper day/night cycle. Therefore, there is no force of friction acting on the earth for resisting its motion. Hence, considering the force of friction there is no much slowing down of the earth when it revolves around the sun. The Earth also not getting heated while it revolves around the sun.
