What will be the killer applications for the consumer market?

I came across 2 interesting statements lately:

- "What is holding up the Internet of Things are killer apps that the community at large cares."

- "A lot of the applications simply aren't exciting enough to get consumers or investors to care, networked espresso machines for example."

But what applications are we looking at?

I think the current domain that is witnessing more successful Internet of Things commercial products is sport+health, with examples such as Nike Fuelband, Adidas miCoach, Withings, Fitbit, Jawbone, Polar... all based on the Quantified-Self movement for providing consumer-friendly analytics of activity parameters.

For the near future, I can see more and more connected wearables integrated into users' lifestyle.
