The 802.15 standard for wireless networks (Bluetooth) has a physical layer behavior: FH, AFH and FHSS, the latter one being version 2.1 with minimum power. However, today some brands of mobile devices, tend towards NFC connectivity for file transfer rate WPAN short distance. From the above, anyone know what will be the fate of the 802.15 standard?
Sorry But i didn't get the question.I guess you want to ask the intention behind NFC (short distance comm.) when they are already trying to develop Bluetooth technology ?
i think these standards would be soon replaced with millimeter waves at 60 +GHZ. So personal area networks can be established fro much much higher data rates compared to current bluetooth tech.
Bluetooth is not going to go anywhere. The current evloution of Bluetooth 4.0 and 4.1 to 4.2 and with the advent of the BLE( blue tooth low energy), it is bound to stay. By 2018 most smartphone manufacturers will support bluetooth 4 versions. It is also a good option for wearable tracking and NFC related payment and beacon tracking based products.
So be positive and Bluetooth is just going to get better.
