Dear all, I want to know which methods, techniques are applicable to measure the shape memory polymers properties like shape fixity and shape recovery properties?
if you are interested in "geometrical changes" only, then comes the question do you want to know global changes of geometry of the observed object (i.e., displacements of selected pointson the observed body) or just local strains. Independently of that an optical method wouldbe the best way to go, such as DIC (digital immage correlation).
since you want to monitore recovery, it means that you will need DIC system that allows continous measurements and on-line or off-line evaluation of taken pictures.
However, one need to understand that change of geometry is a result in a change of material inhernt structure, caused by temperature and/or pressure change. Change of material structure always cause chanege of all physical properties. If you are interested in that then the problem becomes more complex and it would be advisable to define more speciffically which properties you would like to examine over time.
Please go through the following papers...simple methods were used to measure the shape memory polymer properties like shape fixity and shape recovery properties.
Dear Prakash, Thank you for your response. I have gone through papers but they didn't mention any technique except stress under controlled? Let we have a sample in rectangle shape ad I want to check its SM properties then which method or instrument or technique, I have to use? I tried to understand from different papers but they mention only analysis and not the name of instrument or machine? So, now I am confused what should I do?
