With ODV you can use * .txt files, and import them. The data must be in matrix format.

And in latest ODV4 Version, the shapefile could be load in this way:

Add graphics objects from these files to the map, data windows or canvas by

choosing (Extras>)Add Graphics Object from File>[type]

You can use text and nc files.

Using text files in ODV is very easy to manipulate and plot. It must contain a format (file attached).
