I’m helping a student with her analysis project and she picked the national crime victimization survey. I understand the structure of the data (households > persons >incidents) but I am having a hard time figuring out what settings to use to account for the complex sampling design using the incident-level data. She wants to run logistic regressions on incidents to find out what factors are associated with non-reporting of violent crimes.
Most of the examples I have seen for the NCVS show how to calculate incidence/prevalence or rates. It is unclear to me how to specify the primary sampling unit and strata for the incident data and/or which set of replicate weights to use and unit weight. In short, kind of lost with all of the available options.
Anyone in ResearchGate land have experience working with the NVCS incident-level data who can provide guidance or an example of similar analyses? I would be much obliged.
Thanks,
James
