My project is looking at the physical characteristics of 20 different waterbodies which influence bird abundance and species richness.
I am looking at surrounding habitat structure and estimating percentages, for example 20% concrete, 40% grassland and 40% woodland and comparing it to the species and numbers present. There will be more options. Any guidance on what stats test to use? The software I am using is minitab and I am not very confident with stats. Any help much appreciated.
I would suggest contacting a local statistician, biostatistician, or quantitative ecologist for advice. Data collection is going to be a major issue for you. It looks like regression of some sort is your method. Which type(s) depend on your research question(s).
