What soil amendments and cropping system approaches are most effective in combating sub-soil sodicity in the central Indo-Gangetic plains for sustained crop productivity?

Sub-soil sodicity are less fertile,less organic matter content,less number of microorganisms, poor aeration,soil particles are coarse.Physical and chemical amelioration are dear and labourful.Biological amelioration is the need of the day.Growing of salt tolerant crops and plants such as paddy,Berseem,Barley etc in such soils reduce alkalinity. Use of organic manure like compost,FYM, Biofertilizers and vermicultue increases acidity, thus, helping in lowering the pH. Improves Physical,chemical and biological properties of soils.
I would consider a package approach including organic soil amendments, gypsum application and biochar to improve the physical and biological properties in addition to good drainage.
