We are in the process of developing a training framework for newly recruited teacher educators. So we are interested to know, how should be they trained. What should be content? What should be process and methodology?
Bahram Kazemian : these teacher educator will provide pre-service training to elementary school teacher training course, provide inservice training to elementary and secondary school teachers, will do educational research and followup of training.
This is so important and an understudied area. I have done some searching on the topic and it is difficult to find much research exploring the best approaches. I wrote a short proposal to do some studying of this but have not gotten any further yet. I wish I could offer some key ideas or readings but none come to mind yet.
Induction is no longer an option but a necessary function of teacher development, perhaps equal to the importance of teachers’ major curriculum, skill and knowledge. Organization leaders now realize that new teachers need induction programs to increase their development and their teaching effectiveness.
Dear Ajay, after reading what Krishnan wrote, this made me think that possibly this article of mine with colleagues may be relevant to your interest. It focuses most specifically on developing curriculum for developing mentors for teacher induction, but maybe it is relevant to your broader interest of developing teacher educators for various levels of teacher experience.
