In Fruit orchards like Guava, Citrus, Aonla(Indian Gooseberry), pomegranate etc what kind of other horticultural crops like vegetables, spices, flowers or other suitable crops can be raised as intercrop in between plant/row spacing simultaneously with fruit trees.
Can someone provide the ideal cropping pattern for a Guava and Citrus orchard for the purpose of inter cropping.
@ Subham, I think with guava the good intercrop option is toor dal or papaya. For citrus you may try with cauliflower, onion, tomato, bitter guard, bottle guard, peas and okra.
You can consider Turmeric as a spice in a possible inter-cropping system as they like light shade.

Partial shad loving spices crops like ginger and turmeric can be grown. Vegetsble cowpea cannalso be grown successfully. Cultivation of vegetable cowpea not only provides the additional income but also improves the soil fertility status.
