I am going to perform SOD assay of my cells that i first treated with antioxidant compound and then given MIA stress. If i increase the antioxidant compound dose so will it increase the % inhibition or decrease the % inhibition?
SOD enzyme is one of the antioxidant enzymes whose expression and activity increase in the presence of powerful antioxidants. While on exposure to any kind of oxidative stress, both expression and activity are markedly reduced " based on many researches concerning oxidative and anti-oxidant markers as well as free radicals, please refer to NIH library online"
The % increase of SOD enzyme activity depends upon both the duration and the dose of the administered antioxidant ie it is time-dependent and dose-dependent type of enzymatic inhibition.
Please read the following research article about the effect of prolonged administration and high doses of vitamin E " as a strong antioxidant" on superoxide dismutase enzyme activity"
