One method has intermediates of ethanol and isopropyl alcohol, with final dehydration, and a total of three moles water given off at different stages. Another method has an intermediate of methyl ethyl ether and a peroxide transformation.

The link I attached to my first response apparently didn't work. I replaced it with a pdf file about ExxonMobil MTG and I have attached a UOP file here. The UOP website has a lot of information about methanol to olefins.
