I'm thinking a book is needed. Things like, "We already do software engineering, why do we need systems engineering?" and "How does a systems engineer get the best systems architecture," or even, "is there any similarity between systems engineering on a Navy airplane vs. on a cell phone?"

one of those questions might be... "Why are you (systems engineers) making things a bit complicated for us (others)?"
other question, or justification? may as well be, "You are not experienced enough (in the project), yet you're making 'imagination' of how things goes well with systems engineering, how would that be possible?"
perhaps, the latter one is a very rare case
