I have a LASER with following specs: Nd:YAG mode-locked 300 ps,10 Hz repetition rate, 30 mJ peak energy. What are the different properties of a material that can be studied using this laser?
Can you divide the pulse into a probe and pump pulse and study transient properties of any material of your choice? Can a collaborator or your lab prepare and provide a material?
With those laser characteristics it is possible to obtain high intensity optical fields ~10^12W/cm^2. From a molecular point of view, in that energy range you can probably have tunneling ionization, and multiply charged ions as a precursor of the fragmentation.
