Given the plethora of ICT in TEFL/ TESL, how can teachers prove their dynamism in addressing communicative and academic learning that EFL / ESL learners aspire to achieve connecting their career goals?
The attached gives an example of how Social Media can be used to help high schoolers improve their English language skills for passing their exams that would help them fine the job they want upon graduation.

First, we need to accept that ICT is a tool and like any other tool has a time and place (King Solomon). It is important to consider how technology hinders the learning process as well as support or enhancing the learning process. In my experience, there are many issues like the infrastructure and reliability of technology (schools). UK schools have desktop, laptops (technology centred) and tablet (user centred technology) computers but there are some many restrictions to safeguard the child and the school network (garden walling) that it can limit some activities.
The teachers skill and knowledge set to engage with technology and the added pressure that if the technology does not work as anticipated to can have a negative impact on the learners progression and in compulsory education in the UK it is critical that the teacher can prove progression within every lesson. Bring us back the concept that ICT is tool.
Also, students are beginning to voice that they are not interested in 'all singing and dancing' lessons, they no longer want the glitter... they just want to know what to learn (just in time learners).
I would suggest that outstanding teachers use ICT to capture and engage learners (motivation) or to help students overcome an associated issue (student centred learning). For example, using the internet to overcome a lack of knowledge, better still using the internet to look at target information to overcome a lack of knowledge. By using targeted information it reduces the students search and processing time and limited the information overload effect (cognitive load theory). This allows students to actively engage with the learning materials in a meaningful and authentic way.
Critically, it is related to making connections with the learning content and the students future aspiration, thus, targeted websites will be situated within the domain. Bring us back to the concept that ICT is tool.
