Good day Ms. Betangcor! Great question. I agree that Biofluid FTIR spectroscopy is flexible to work on. However, in response to your question, the current water absorption in the sample can cause problems when using biofluid FTIR spectroscopy. When biofluids from water sources are not properly eliminated, it can reveal uncertain information about the biomarkers in a sample. Therefore, even though biofluid FTIR spectroscopy is renowned for its sensitivity and ability to produce high-quality data, issues like the "coffee-ring" effect on a sample dispersion can be unavoidable and detrimental to the entire study process. Additionally, because it hasn't yet been standardized, drying time and technique can pose a potential issue and can be problematic in a clinical setting.
