What polymeric material has the most similar properties as nylon 6.6 in terms of the processing and mechanical properties, and it is not from the polyamides family?

I'm afraid it is not easy to find another material with similar mechanical and processing properties which is not polyamide. Polyamides have a special property: their viscosity decreases very rapidly above the crystalline melting point, the difference is sharper than in the case of polyesters, which are also semicrystalline. Moreover, polyamides become fairly tough after processing due to water uptake. Therefore it is better to specify the problem you want to solve.

The most similar polymer is the polyurethane from HDI and 1,4-butandiol. It was synthezised at Bayer in the late 30ies and had the name Perlon U but a new patent describing this polymer is EP3838954 in which you also find the older describtions.
Burkhard Koehler is correct. No polymer is as similar to PA6,6 as 1,6HDI-1,4BDO polyadduct. PU6,4 has a lower melting point and markedly reduced water sorption capacity, though. This thermoplastic polyurethane has only found niche applications as it is far more expensive than regular nylons. It has been marketed as Durethan U, Igamid U, and Perlon U fibers.
PU6,4 is pretty straightforward to synthesize in the lab. The polyaddition type of reaction (with no byproduct formation) opens up some interesting possibilities for in situ engineered composites.
