What kind of TEM grid is better to use for imaging of polysaccharide coated liposomes?

It' s necessary to visualize coating and phospholipid bilayers. Also what is the best way of such sample preparation?

If your aim is to observe the polysaccharides, you'll need to use gold grids and stain the ultrathin sections according to the periodic acid-thiosemicarbazide-silver proteinate method described by Thiéry (1967). The original article might be difficult to be found but there are a lot of articles using the same method. An example is attached.

Regarding the observation of phospholipids, they might be already visible if you fixated with osmium tetroxide. Good luck!
