Thank you for your suggestion. Actually, the geochemical analysis has already been done (including REE) . On the other hand, anthropogenic impact on 20 heavy metals contamination and its environmental assessment study will be published soon.

one of the key questions is: What are all your efforts aimed at ? Is it exploration ? Is a side-effect of archaeology ? Is it Quaternary studies?... You can do everything from Be cosmogenic studies to XRD-Riedveld refinements of clay minerals.

You might consider identifying rock types, if the grains are large enough, and determine the clast assemblage at different depths and in different locations. Changes in clast assemblages can reveal changes in source terrain. I also suggest U-Pb ages from detrital zircons and lead isotopes from detrital feldspar.

The main approach of each river sediment sampling is the geological aerial image interpretation of the drainage network and its patterns formed by the rock sequences.

The geologist can thus localize the regions of origin and the transport routes of the sediments and their minerals, and can carry out the required detailed investigations there.

Apart from Mineralogy and Geochemistry for the Bengal Basin, we can also analyse the sediments for Mineral Magnetic Study. for example Susceptibility and Magnetic Grain size of the sediment sample. Mineral magnetic study, can interpret the provenance and also can predict depositional environment.
